    Superheroes have been a mainstay of comic books for decades. Some are more popular than others, but all of them have one thing in common: they want to save us from evil and make our lives better! But not every superhero has been able to achieve the fame and stardom as some others. Here is a list of 15 of the most popular superheroes in comics to date.

    There are literally thousands of superheroes in different multiverses. For this particular section, we are only going to focus on Marvel and DC comic superheroes that have gained popularity among fans. With that being said, let’s start the ranking!

    15. Silver Surfer

    Silver Surfer

    Created by Jack Kirby and John Buscema, the Silver Surfer first appeared in Fantastic Four #48 (1966). Originally a herald of Galactus, the world devourer, he was sent to Earth by his master with one purpose: consume it. But he meets the fantastic four on earth and becomes a part of the earthlings.

    Surfer is one of the very first superheroes to get fame for his outstanding persona and appearance. Fans loved the idea of a galactical superhero and he quickly became the fan-favorite.

    Deadpool

    Deadpool is one of the most popular superheroes in Marvel comics. With his wacky and zany personality, he has gathered a large fan base over the years. He also has an interesting backstory that motivates him to do what he does best: killing bad guys!

    Deadpool started off as a mercenary with cancer who was dying from it until Wolverine offered him a second chance at life. He had Wolverine’s healing abilities fused with his own cancer cells in order to stop the growth and spread of his disease but at the cost of his sanity.

    Deadpool is called the Merc with a Mouth because he is very humorous and likes to make jokes in every situation whether it’s good or bad. It’s this personality that made him the president of his fan club.

    Shazam, also known as Captain Marvel, was the first superhero in comics to be featured on a cover by himself. The character is an adolescent boy who transforms into an adult with superhuman powers through a magic word given to him by “the wizard” Shazam. He has proven popular enough among readers and creators alike that he has been given his own comic book, which is one of the most frequently published comics in North America.

    The bulk of Shazam’s powers come from six gods and heroes who share their power with him: Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus or Jupiter (the Roman version), Mercury, and Achilles. When Billy Batson speaks the word Shazam!

    The Incredible Hulk is a Marvel Comics superhero and one of the most popular superheroes in comics. Since his introduction to comic books, he has achieved immense popularity that continues to this day. He was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, two of the most important figures at Marvel Comics during its formative years.

    Hulk has gained more popularity since his introduction to the MCU  where he is portrayed by Mark Ruffalo.

    Green Lantern was one of the most popular superheroes in the DC universe from 1940 to 1985. He achieved this popularity because he had a power ring that granted him an incredible variety of abilities, and his stories were often adventurous and science fiction-oriented.

    The character’s popularity fell rapidly with DC comic writers introducing Kyle Rayner as Hal Jordan’s successor. But in the early 2000s, interest in Green Lantern was renewed with a new character, and it’s still popular among the fans.

His healing factor allows him to have an advantage over other heroes and villains, but it also renders his aging process as a normal human being. Wolverine has gone more famous as he was portrayed by Huge Jackman in the X-Men saga.

    Thor is the son of Odin, and it was prophesied that he would be a great hero. It’s said his power comes from Mjolnir (a magic hammer) which has been passed down by generations of gods. When Thor picks up his hammer to fight evil as long as he lifts the hammer with one hand then there can be peace.

    He was the most popular superhero in comics from 1962 to 1984 and is still one of Marvel’s best-known characters today. His popularity has persisted since his first appearance, and he remains a celebrity outside of comic books as well due to cross-media adaptations including animated films, live-action feature films, video games, television series, and merchandise.

    The Speedster, The Scarlet Streak, and the Red-Blue Blur are all nicknames for this superhero who hails from Central City. He has a reputation of being a cocky showoff which sometimes gets him into trouble with his fellow superheroes but nothing he can’t get out of!

    One of DC Comics’ most iconic superheroes, the Flash is also one of the most popular. His superpower grants him various abilities depending on what he needs at a given moment in time including superspeed and electrokinesis. He wants to make Central City safe for everyone – even if it means getting into some trouble along the way!

    Appeared in the comics as early as 1963, Tony Stark is one of the founding members of The Avengers and helps fight off evil alongside Thor and Captain America. He has been featured on TV screens since 1966 when he became a part of the animated series “The Marvel Super Heroes.” After his first appearance on the big screen in 2008, Iron Man became one of the smartest and most iconic superheroes ever.

    Iron-Man was portrayed by Robert Downy Jr. in the MCU and he literally rocked it. To date, Iron-Man is the most popular superhero in the mainstream media and will be for more.

    He was the first superhero to make it on the comic book pages and is still remains of fans’ top most favorite. With different editions and versions being introduced every now and then, he is likely to keep his fame for a very long time.

    Batman is one of the most popular superheroes in all comics and has been for decades. The Dark Knight, Detective, as he’s sometimes called, was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger (though many people don’t know that). Batman made his first appearance on March 30th, 1939 in a comic book published by DC Comics entitled “Detective Comics”.

    In the comics, Batman’s name is Bruce Wayne. He inherited a fortune from his parents and used that money to fight crime as Gotham City’s protector. The most popular incarnation of Batman within comic books has been actor Adam West who played him in the 1960s television show “Batman.” The character was also portrayed by Michael Keaton in “Batman” and by Christian Bale, who played Batman in the most recent film trilogy.

    His fan base is as diverse as it is large, and his story of being a regular teenage boy who was bitten by a radioactive spider has been told time and again.

    Spider-Man also made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016 but he has been on the silver screen since the late ’70s. Spider-Man is and will be the most popular superhero in comics for years to come for sure.
