Adam Warlock was first seen in the Fantastic Four issue #66-67 in 1967. Originally known as Him, he came in several Marvel storylines often to change the core of the story. He is one of the very few characters, who can potentially unlock the full power of the Infinity Gauntlet.

Who is Adam Warlock?

Adam Warlock is an artificial human being that was created by Beehive who were later introduced as the Enclave. Warlock was their first attempt to bypass the evolution by genetically engineering a perfect being, called Him.

Adam Warlock is considered one of the strongest characters in the Marvel universe. He possesses one of the six Infinity Stones, the Soul Gem. While not fighting or traveling, he contains himself in a cocoon, which he uses to regenerate and regain his strength back.

The Origin Story

Warlock was created within his cocoon, he overheard his creators from the cocoon who wanted to use him for evil intentions. So, he rebels against his own creators and broke free of their control.

Seeking a new life for himself Warlock known as Him back at the time went to space.

After a misunderstanding with The Mighty Thor involving the kidnap of Lady Sif, Warlock was beaten half to death and retreated to his regenerative cocoon.

Many years later Adam was discovered by the High Evolutionary who named him Warlock. The High Evolutionary waked Adam prematurely from his cocoon to save his creation, the counter earth. Which was directly opposite to the earth on the other side of the sun.

Warlock fought brilliantly to defeat the Man-Beast and saved the counter earth from his army of beasts. As an appreciation, The High Evolutionary gifted Warlock the Soul Gem, One of the six most precious stones in the universe.

Magus Encounter

Freeing the counter earth Adam decided to travel the universe and help those that are in need. While traveling through space he encounters a powerful being called Magus.

Teaming up with Thanos, Gamora, and Pip the Troll he encounters Magus. He then finds out that Magus is a future version of Warlock himself who grew insane after using the Soul Gem for his own interest.

To prevent Magus from even existing, Adam travels to the future and captures his own self in the soul stone.

Powers & Abilities

Thanks to his genetically engineered origin, Warlock has a ton of abilities. He is superhumanly strong, fast, and durable and he doesn’t need any food, water, or air to survive. He can heal himself in his cocoon, fly throughout the galaxy, and functionally immoral.

Adam Warlock is capable of manipulating Quantum and Cosmic energy. His greatest gift is his intelligence and he is also a master of the mystical arts. In addition to all of these, he has the Soul Stone, which is basically one of the strongest artifacts in the galaxy. Because of several birth and re-birth he now basically doesn’t need the Gem as he possess a fraction of its consciousness.

Warlock is also able to manipulate matter, supersonic speed, and the ability to time travel, which he doesn’t do so unless it’s absolutely necessary. He possesses the Power Cosmic, which is claimed to be stronger than that of Galactus, the devourer of planets.

At one point he gets the hold of the Infinity Gauntlet and expels his evil form from the Soul World and names himself as Magus.
